Sherlockian Statistics, an Interview With Conan Doyle and more!
June 11, 2016

I'm Megh from

Let's start off with:

The Fascinating Sherlockian Tit-bits of the Month

I've always been a stickler for stats. I love 'em!

So, this month I dug out an interesting statistic related to Sherlock Holmes: how many people search for something related to Sherlock Holmes on Google every month?

Come on, take a guess before you proceed.

Based on data from the Google Keyword Planner, on an average, 1.22 million people from across the world type 'Sherlock Holmes' into the Google search box every month!

There's more: From May, 2015 to April, 2016 - Google says that a total of 13.356 million people typed 'Sherlock Holmes' in their search tool!

This is getting staggering. Just so you know, the population of London is estimated to be 8.6 million. This is also the approximate population of New York. Also, 13 million is more than the population of Cuba or Greece or Sweden or Portugal or Israel.

Being the stats fanatic that I am though, I'll add one more thing:

1.22 million searches a month means that every single minute - 28 people across the world are searching for something about Sherlock Holmes on Google!

I think it's interesting to know, when you're about to type something about Sherlock Holmes into Google, that 28 other people are doing the same thing. :-)

What's new at

This month, I've been focusing on creating an interesting mobile app related to Sherlock Holmes. I'm very excited to share more details about it - and will let you know more about it soon...

However, thanks to this diversion, my writing at took a back seat in the last few weeks.

Since there's nothing new this month, here are two older (lesser known) posts you might enjoy:

Sherlockian Discoveries of the Month

This month I came across an intriguing interview of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle himself that was published in the Strand Magazine in August, 1892! The title of the interview is 'A Day with Dr. Conan Doyle.'

If you haven't seen it yet, here it is:

Then there was this funny 'Sherlockian' Looney Tunes video recommended by Chris Redmond that I enjoyed quite a bit:

My final recommendation of this month is an interesting Sherlockian novel I stumbled across and loved reading about.

It's called 'A Study in Charlotte.' The book features the descendents of Sherlock Holmes and John Watson - boarding school students Charlotte Holmes and Jamie Watson

Here it is:

Definitely worth looking at.

Well, that's it for this month.

See you again, soon. :-)
