A Sherlockian fun-fact and an intriguing Conan Doyle video
February 02, 2015
Hi

I'm Megh from SherlockHolmes-Fan.com.

Hope January was great for you.

Let me start this month's Sherlock Holmes Gazette with...

The Weird and Crazy Sherlockian Fact of the Month

Did you know that...

...There are quite a few places called 'Sherlock' in the world?

There are. And - the interesting part is that almost all of these places are in Australia!

There's a town called 'Sherlock' in Western Australia. There's another town called 'Sherlock' in South Australia. And to top that, there's a river called 'Sherlock' that flows through Western Australia.

The USA is not very far behind - it's got it's own township called Sherlock in Kansas.

Well, this was news to me! Here's a picture of River Sherlock in Western Australia (Thanks to http://goo.gl/fwdZ3N):

What's New at Sherlock Holmes Fan?

Many things...

1 Fun-filled Sherlock Holmes Calculators and Widgets!

I've always been fascinated by 'calculators' and so I built some using Wolfram Alpha last month.

How many days have passed since Sherlock Holmes' birthday? What is the value of the money that Sherlock Holmes used, today? What has Sherlock Holmes got to do with the moon?

These widgets will tell you...

2 What Does 'Sherlock' Mean?

Sherlock is not a common name, right? I mean how many people do you know whose name is 'Sherlock?'

I tried to research the heck out of this name, where it comes from, how many people in history have had this name - and more...

3 The Revamped 'Sherlock Holmes Books' Page

If you haven't taken a peek at this exhaustive page about all the original Sherlock Holmes books, now is the time!

It's been revamped and I've added some more fun pictures.

Time now for...

This Month's Special Sherlockian Sizzler...

Take a look at these words:

SHERLOCK HOLMES PRIVATE DETECTIVE

Did you know that these words can be rearranged to form this interesting set of sentences?

TOP CRIME SOLVER. HE TACKLED THIEVES.

Well, it's true. A certain 'Jean' figured out this funny anagram and I thought I had to share it. :-)

Well, that's all in this month's newsletter.

Have a great month ahead. See you soon!
